Check the filter each month
Inspect the filter monthly, especially during heavy use. Replace it when dirty and follow the manufacturer’s interval and filter specifications. A more restrictive filter is not automatically better for your system.
Give air a clear path
Keep furniture and curtains away from supply and return grilles. Clear leaves and loose debris from around the outdoor unit while keeping the manufacturer’s required clearance. Do not remove panels or handle wiring.
Use the thermostat thoughtfully
Use a comfortable, consistent schedule. Setting the thermostat very low will not make a typical single-stage AC cool the home faster. Shades can help reduce direct sun indoors.
Schedule seasonal care
Arrange a professional cooling check before the hot season. Ask about coils, drainage, airflow, controls, and equipment condition. Maintenance supports performance; it cannot guarantee a particular lifespan.
Know when to stop
If you notice ice, repeated breaker trips, a burning smell, or water near electrical equipment, turn the equipment off and arrange service. Do not chip ice away or attempt refrigerant work.
